How Teams Qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025?

FIFA Club World Cup

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is set to be a historic event, marking the tournament’s expansion to 32 teams and promising a month-long festival of global club football in the United States from June 14 to July 13, 2025. For Ifootball fans and global enthusiasts alike, this edition brings together the best clubs from every continent, all vying for the ultimate crown in world club football.

Here’s everything you need to know about how teams qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and the full list of qualified teams.

How Do Teams Qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025?

FIFA has revamped the qualification process for the expanded 2025 Club World Cup, making it more competitive and inclusive. The 32 slots are distributed among the six continental confederations and the host nation, based on the strength and historical performance of each region. Here’s how the process works:

UEFA (Europe): 12 slots, the highest allocation, reflecting the region’s dominance in club football.

CONMEBOL (South America): 6 slots, recognizing the continent’s rich football history.

AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), CONCACAF (North & Central America): 4 slots each.

OFC (Oceania): 1 slot.

Host Nation (USA): 1 slot.

Two Pathways to Qualification

There are two main ways for clubs to qualify:

Winning a Continental Title: Clubs that win their confederation’s top club competition (e.g., UEFA Champions League, Copa Libertadores, AFC Champions League) between 2021 and 2024 automatically qualify.

Consistent High Performance: Additional slots are filled by clubs with the best performances in their continental competitions over the four-year period, using a points-based ranking system.

Points System for Ranking

For AFC, CAF, and CONCACAF, the ranking is calculated as follows:

3 points for each win

1 point for each draw

3 points for progressing to each new stage of the competition

UEFA uses its established club coefficient system to determine its additional qualifiers.

Country Limits and Special Cases

Normally, a maximum of two clubs per country can qualify, unless more than two clubs from the same nation win their continental titles in the four-year window. For example, Brazil has four representatives because different clubs won the Copa Libertadores in each qualifying year.

If a club wins more than once, the slot passes to the next best-ranked team from that confederation.
